da supremo： Simply put, there are only two types of weekends in our calendar. One with club football, and one without. And although many enjoyed watching their country during the international break, the two weeks for most seems like an eternity to wait for the Premier League to return.
da heads bet： And with the Premier League comes the usual Fantasy Football flutter, with managers banging their heads with the weekly decisions of who to buy, sell, and hold on to. And these choices are set to be essential especially with no more breaks until the middle of October.
So looking at some of the fixtures, Everton v Chelsea could throw up quite a few questions already. Can Chelsea (especially Eden Hazard) bounce back from their early season slump by beating Everton at Goodison Park?
Arsenal then host Stoke City at the Emirates, and it could be the time Alexis Sanchez explodes to rediscover the form that saw him score 16 league goals last season.
The league’s two in-from sides in Crystal Palace and Man City also clash on Saturday… can Aguero also live up to his 13.2 price tag?
And who can forget the biggest game of the weekend Manchester United v Liverpool. Will David de Gea start?
Here are two players to BUY, SELL, or HOLD ON TO heading in to Fantasy Football Gameweek Five!
BUY: Aleksandr Kolarov
It is extremely strange to say, but Manchester City star Aleksandr Kolarov (5.7) is an absolute NAILED ON PICK for the current Premier League leaders so far this season.
The Serbian has always been known for his attacking prowess down the left flank, but it is because of this that he has often been rotated by manager Manuel Pellegrini with Gael Clichy.
But with the Frenchman injured and right-back duo Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna also struggling with respective problems, Kolarov is a sure-fire selection after already accumulating 37 points in the first four games!
OUT: Jose Fonte
Southampton were once again set to be a force to be reckoned with after an extremely stellar campaign last season, but the Saints were definitely slow out of the blocks this time around.
While their attack have picked up the slack with a 3-0 victory over Southampton, they were helped by a brainless double-act from Norwich defender Steven Whittaker, who got himself sent off in the space of five minutes.
The Saints went on to clock a second clean sheet but there were times that they looked nervy at the back, and with West Brom (A), Man United (H), Swansea (H), and Chelsea (A) coming up in their next four, it is likely that Jose Fonte (5.4) and their backline is set to be breached in that period.
Cedric Soares (5.0) is also a cheaper alternative to Fonte, with the right back capable of producing at both ends of the pitch if you are really keen on a Southampton defender.
HOLD: Wayne Rooney
Yes after mentioning him in the article ahead of Gameweek Three, Wayne Rooney (10.4) is once again in the HOLD section despite his lacklustre displays for Manchester United this season.
The reason? The former Everton striker is now England’s all-time record goalscorer… and in football nothing gives you as much of a boost as confidence.
Rooney will be raring to go for the Red Devils when they host bitter rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford this weekend. And the 29-year-old likes to score goals in clusters. So if he bags one, we expect him to go on a small run before the real big games against Arsenal, Everton, and Man City arrive in October.
BUY: Bafetimbi Gomis
Bafetimbi Gomis (7.4) is undoubtedly the most in-form striker in the Premier League right now, scoring a goal in each of Swansea’s four games this season.
And here’s the thing, it is by no means a fluke that the Frenchman is in such fine form, showcased by his absolute dominance over Manchester United in gameweek four.
While his team-mate Andre Ayew (7.2) is also a good shout as an option in midfield, Gomis is the focal point of the Swans’ attack and will be receiving passes from the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson (7.4) and Jefferson Montero (6.0) all day.
Swansea also have a winnable run of fixtures that include Watford (A), Everton (H), Southampton (A), Tottenham (H), and Stoke City (H) in the next five games.
Leave ‘the panther’ out at your own peril!
SELL: Sergio Romero
Sergio Romero (5.1) started his Manchester United career incredibly well, keeping three clean sheets in his first three Premier League games, convincing many to swap their goalkeeper for the Argentina international.
And although he was below par against Swansea in gameweek four, he did not deserve the stick from the fickle Man United fans for his display.
Yet that is not the main reason to get rid of Romero this week, it’s because it looks almost likely that David de Gea (now only 5.3) will return between the sticks following his failed move to Real Madrid.
It would be a reasonable choice to switch him now for a mid-price option, but if you want to hold on to the World Cup finalist then you risk him being benched by Louis van Gaal against Liverpool this weekend.
HOLD: Christian Benteke
Both of our HOLD options this week comes from the Manchester United v Liverpool game, with both also being their team’s main striking option.
But for Liverpool star Chrisrian Benteke (8.5), many are considering letting go of the Belgian after two rather drab performances, with his single goal against Bournemouth in gameweek two also should have been chalked off for offside.
However, in United’s last game against Swansea, Bafetimbi Gomis dominated Daley Blind who was deployed at centre-back, and Benteke can cause similar problems at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Not to mention, if the Reds do come unstuck against Louis van Gaal’s men, Benteke immediately has two home clashes against Norwich City and then Aston Villa to redeem himself as a Fantasy Football big-hitter. If not, then maybe it’s time to say goodbye.
