Leeds have won seven on the bounce, going through the entire of last month without defeat, and Marcelo Bielsa has been duly recognised with the November Manager of the Month award.
Somewhat surprisingly, it is only the second occasion that the Argentine has been given the prize, having collected the award in August 2018 – his first month in charge of the Whites.
It was an exciting four weeks for Leeds and one which propelled them to the top of the Championship, with Jack Harrison also being nominated for November Player of the Month, though that prize went to Hull’s Jarrod Bowen.
Fans are a mixture of excited and nervous that Bielsa has been named as the best manager, as some believe it can act as a curse and could lead to a slip in results.
Others, however, are simply elated and believe the award was given to the right man. Since Leeds conceded just two goals in their five November matches, that is a fair assessment of things.
The former Lille boss is now an immensely popular figure in West Yorkshire and he has a high likelihood of picking up more awards, as long as he can maintain the current level of performance.
November could have been a difficult period with Leeds reduced to one striker in Patrick Bamford as a result of Eddie Nketiah’s injury, but they have overcome opponents with ease at the times, and the likes of Helder Costa and Harrison have really stepped up in terms of goal involvement.
Bielsa’s achievement is, as some fans suggest, well-deserved. He has Leeds playing football that is great to watch and the command they have over the run of play, regardless of who takes to the pitch, is quite something.
Meanwhile, fans have also been reacting to a former controversial player’s comments about Bielsa, and playing under him.
