Leeds United face off against Cardiff City this weekend in what should be an interesting clash between two sides with differing play styles.
Marcelo Bielsa’s fluid possession-based game comes up against Neil Harris’ side that has been dubbed as “very British” by the Argentine in the build-up to the game.
With Leeds winning each of their last seven games you would think that this team basically picks itself, and while the Argentine’s lineup for Saturday may be rather predictable, we think that he should change things a little bit for this one.
Here’s the team that we think Bielsa should go with against Cardiff.
There aren’t too many changes in this side, but the first thing to note is that Bielsa could look to go back to a three at the back against Cardiff as that’s been his preferred formation in recent weeks, but he was forced to adapt against Hull in order to nullify the threat of Jarrod Bowen.
That means that Stuart Dallas has moved back into the midfield while Luke Ayling has moved back across to centre-back to play alongside Ben White and Gaetano Berardi.
The midfield is largely what you’d expect it to be, but we reckon that Kalvin Phillips may be asked to play deeper than usual in order to nullify the aerial threat that Cardiff pose.
Mateusz Klich continues his streak of starting every single league game since Bielsa’s appointment, while Pablo Hernandez moves into the number 10 role.
Now, on the wings is where it gets a little more interesting.
Jack Harrison has moved over to the right-wing, and that’s partly to allow space for Ezgjan Alioski who more than deserves a start after two goals in his last two games.
Up top, Patrick Bamford continues to start over Eddie Nketiah.
In other news, Leeds have been chasing a striker from Belgium who is outscoring Kemar Roofe.
