[ad_pod ]It’s safe to say that Manchester City are stepping into the new season in the best way possible. At the weekend, the Citizens defeated Liverpool in the annual Community Shield match that took place at Wembley. It was a really tight affair between two of England’s best and we only got the winner after a penalty shootout.Benjamin Mendy, however, was not present to play with his team as he is still recovering from his injury.[ad_pod ]Even though the Frenchman has been making some good breakthroughsÂas of late, he was not included in theÂsquadÂthat went to China for the Premier League Asia Trophy and has not featured in the team ever since the Champions League quarter-final second legÂclashÂagainst Tottenham.Pep Guardiola has provided us with an official update on the defender’s status not so long ago and now, Mendy has done the same in his latest tweet.First, he congratulated his team on another trophy for their cabinet and then proceeded to reply on some of the responses he got in the comment section.
The fans were asking for his return and Mendy said they could “count on him” and that he would indeed return “soon”.
This is a good sign for Manchester City as the new 2019/20 Premier League season is just around the corner.
For the Citizens, the defence of their title starts on August 10 against West Ham.
