da bet7k: As reported in an exclusive by The Daily Star, Manchester United are to offer one of their top performers mega-money to stay at Old Trafford.
What’s the story?
da bet7: David de Gea would walk into the side of most clubs in Europe, so it’s obvious that Manchester United would want to keep a hold of him.
The Star reports they’re ready to fend off potential suitors for the star goalkeeper by making him one of the highest paid players at the club.
They reckon that United could pay De Gea a massive £300k per week, making him an earner on par with the likes of Paul Pogba and Wayne Rooney.
With clubs like Real Madrid circling, according to The Star, you can see why they’d be so keen to sign him up to a bumper new contract, even though his current deal doesn’t run out until 2019.
The main man
David de Gea has made a massive 33 appearances for Manchester United already this season, proving he is clearly still the main man between the sticks for the Old Trafford side.
He’s been an almost permanent fixture in the United starting eleven for almost six years now, ever dependable to keep the opposition out when called upon. His shot stopping skills are second to none, pulling off some outrageous saves over the years.
Given goalkeepers are notoriously hard to replace, it’s clear to see why retaining David de Gea is such a priority for Jose Mourinho. Losing him just as United start to hit their stride under the Portuguese manager would be a big blow.
