While not the most outspoken of players, the Englishman has gone about his business quietly and effectively for West Ham over the years, and much of the Hammer’s faithful will be said to see a man who is Claret through and through leave the club this summer, especially considering it is for a fellow Premier League club.
A £10million deal may seem a fair return for a player who struggled for first team football in the previous campaign, especially in his preferred position of centre-back, but that doesn’t mean anyone at the club will be happy about letting him go.
